SFYHA Summer Sniper Program

SFYHA players participating in the upcoming 2025/26 hockey season are invited to participate in the 2025 SFYHA Summer Sniper Program to work on consistency, accuracy, hand-eye coordination and form while maximizing repetitions.

Players can record their shots on goal while goalies record wall catches on their own schedule. (If a player is currently participating in a summer shot challenge thru another program, AAA or camps, their shot totals can also be counted towards the SFYHA Summer Sniper Program).

Dates: June 1 - August 31, 2025

Location: Your driveway, basement or garage shooting gallery. Players can use a net, box or wall as a target.

Age Levels

• HS/Bantam/15U: 10,000 total pucks shot or balls caught / 3,333 per month
• Peewee/12U: 7,000 total pucks shot or balls caught / 2,333 per month
• Squirt/10U: 5,000 total pucks shot or balls caught / 1,666 per month
• Mite/8U: 4,000 total pucks shot or balls caught / 1,333 per month

Incentive

• Each player that completes the Summer Sniper Program at their respective level will receive a SFYHA Summer Sniper helmet sticker, their name on a plaque at East Bethel Ice Arena commemorating their accomplishment, and a special gift.
• Each player that completes the SFYHA Summer Sniper Program will be entered into a drawing for one “grand prize” to be awarded at each age level (Mite/8U, Squirt/10U, Pee Wee/12U, HS/Bantam/15U.

Goalies

• Throw a ball against a wall and catch it 10,000 times (10,000 each hand - 20,000 total).
• Don't use a glove or blocker, but bare hands (aim small, miss small mentality).
• Catch the ball with your index finger pointing up toward the sky. This is a simple way to promote catching without dipping your hands down or catching underhand (which is a bad habit for goalies).
